The Westborough School

School Meals

At Westborough meals adhere to national standards. As a school we owe it to the children to provide them with a level of nutrition that will promote future health and overall wellbeing.

As a school we also need to respect the right of parents to make decisions about food and diet.

PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL -
WE HAVE CHILDREN WHO ATTEND OUR SCHOOL WHO HAVE EXTREME REACTIONS TO NUTS.

Is Nutella allowed in nut free schools?

No, Nutella is not allowed in nut-free schools. Nutella is made from hazelnuts, which are tree nuts. Nut-free school policies ban all tree nuts and peanuts to protect students with severe, life-threatening allergies

Supermarket Free From chocolate spreads

Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons all carry "Free From" chocolate or cocoa spreads in their dedicated allergy aisles. Sainsbury's runs a nut-free section online that is worth bookmarking. Quality varies — most own-brand spreads still rely on a lot of sugar and rapeseed oil to do the work — but they are the cheapest entry point if a child suddenly needs a switch and you are not sure what they will actually eat.

We are now on a 4-week rotation.

Week 4 features a "chef's choice" every Thursday, when the children can try a new dish, which will hopefully introduce them to new delicious and nutritious foods and flavours.

The chef's choice will be sent to parents/carers on the Friday of the week before.
