Please remember to send children in with a small snack and a water bottle. Also, appropriate clothing to match the weather.

Homework – TTR, Spelling Shed, Maths Shed.  Also, please remember children should be reading for at least 20 minutes a day, at home.

 

This half term is another busy one!

English Writing – We will be studying the book ‘Hidden Figures’ by Margot Lee Shetterley. Hidden Figures explores the biographies of three African American women who worked as computers to solve problems for engineers and others at NASA.  For the first years of their careers, the workplace was segregated and women were kept in the background as human computers.

 

The children will have the opportunity to:  write a persuasive letter, order key events chronologically and identify relevant and key information through research.

 

English Reading Skellig David Almond - Echo reading, reading to a partner, vocabulary through inference, reading comprehension, retrieval and summarising.

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maths – Statistics, Shape, Position and Direction and Decimals

Please continue to support your children with learning/securing their times table knowledge through Times Table Rockstars.

 

Science - Living things and their habitats including life cycles and animal and plant reproduction

 

Geography – Who you like to live in the desert? Exploring hot desert biomes and learning about the physical features of a desert.

 

R.E.  - Why do some people believe in God and some people not? Exploring the idea of God both psychologically and theologically to offer reasons why some people may choose to believe or not believe in God.

 

Art – Digital Art – we will be looking at and producing digital art inspired by Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Eric Johansson, Stephen McMennamy and Vera Molnar.

 

DT – Pop-up book – create a functional pop-up storybook design, using lever, sliders, layers and spacers to create paper-based mechanisms.

 

French – Clothes

 

PSHE – Health and Wellbeing

  

Music - All the learning in this unit is focused around one song: Dancing in the Street by Martha and The Vandellas. The material presents an integrated approach to music where games, the dimensions of music (pulse, rhythm, pitch etc), singing and playing instruments are all linked.
