Welcome back to another exciting half term. We have so much to do!

In Writing, we will be exploring the journey of Ernest Shackleton and his expedition to sail to the Antarctic on his ship The Endeavour. We will be writing a formal letter, requesting to become one of his crewmates. We will also be creating a news report on his journey.

In Maths- we will be concentrating on multiplication and division, along with some consolidation on the maths learning we have done up until now.

In French - we will learn how to talk about our families.

In RE - we will be learning about the Christian holiday, Pentecost, and it's significance to Christians.

In Science - we will be exploring the world of electricity, and discovering how electrical appliances work.

In PHSE -  we will be thinking about family and relationships, and how to stay safe with online friendships.

In Geography - we will learn about rainforests, where they are and why they are important to us.

In DT- we will be using our newfound knowledge of electricity in order to make torches.

In Music - we will be continuing our journey through the ages and around the world with Miss Kent on the Ukulele.

Homework: Please read with your child each night and talk about what they have read. Make predictions about what might happen next. Paper homework will be based on current learning, as well as developing confidence and understanding of the times tables.

'Spelling Shed' and 'Times table rockstars'  Times table rockstars practice has been individually targeted for children using the 'Garage' mode, and assignments on spelling shed have been set for children to practice, which will be shown to children in the coming weeks. (Logins are in the front of their reading records.)

As a reminder, the school day begins at 8:20am, with activities like maths, handwriting or reading for the children. This also gives children the chance to come in and settle before we begin formal learning promptly at 8:40am. We are looking forward to an exciting half term with year 4!

Please continue to encourage your child to do their weekly maths homework, read for at least 10 minutes every night, learn their weekly spellings and practise their times tables.
